About the role:
The National Business Development – Mining will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the mining, minerals, and metals sector. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong client relationships, promoting IPD’s extensive range of electrical products, and delivering tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of this growing market. The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge, strategic sales expertise, and a passion for sustainability to drive IPD’s growth and market leadership.
- Market Development: Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the mining, minerals, and metals sector, including mine site infrastructure, mineral processing plants, and related projects.
- Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including mining companies, consulting engineers, system integrators, contractors, and end-users in the mining sector.
- Solution Selling: Collaborating with clients to understand their technical and operational requirements, recommending IPD’s electrical distribution products (e.g., switchboards, circuit protection, power monitoring, and automation solutions) to deliver efficient and reliable outcomes for mining operations.
- Sales Strategy: Developing and executing a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets, expand market share, and strengthen IPD’s brand presence in the mining, minerals, and metals sector.
- Industry Engagement: Representing IPD at industry events, trade shows, and conferences (e.g., MINExpo, Austmine) to promote solutions, network with key decision-makers, and stay informed on market trends and emerging technologies in mining.
- Collaboration: Working closely with IPD’s technical, product, and marketing teams to develop customized solutions, proposals, and presentations that align with client needs and industry standards in mining applications.
- Market Intelligence: Monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in the mining, minerals, and metals sector to identify opportunities and inform IPD’s business strategy.
- Reporting: Providing regular updates on sales performance, pipeline development, and market insights to the General Manager and senior leadership team.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mining engineering, business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., mining electrical systems) are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of business development or sales experience in the electrical distribution or mining, minerals, and metals sector.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and securing major projects (e.g., mine site power systems, processing plant infrastructure).
- Strong understanding of automation, industrial communications and/or electrical distribution products and their application in mining operations (e.g., processing plants, haulage systems, remote site power infrastructure).
- Familiarity with the mining, minerals, and metals market (e.g., power infrastructure for remote sites, automation for processing plants, electrical safety requirements).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, from mining engineers and site managers to C-suite executives.
- Ability to develop and execute a targeted sales strategy, leveraging market insights and IPD’s product portfolio to drive growth in the mining sector.
- Passion for promoting efficient and reliable solutions in line with IPD’s commitment to operational excellence in the mining industry.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet clients, attend industry events, and visit remote mining sites.
