Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Development professional to join our Strategic Solutions team and represent IPD within the Consultants and Specifiers area. You will be working closely with Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Design Consultancies, as well as Specifiers across key end-user industries.
In this exciting position, you’ll help boost IPD’s brand recognition and promote our solutions. You'll build valuable relationships, present our technology, and help secure specifications. 

This role will be reporting to the General Manager of Strategic Solutions and will be based at our office in Welshpool.

About the role:

  • Making structured calls per month, including technical offer presentations, targeting areas such as Power Distribution, Switchboard Systems, Busway, Power Monitoring, Automation, IIOT, Industrial Communications, Safety Solutions, Hazardous Area Solutions, and Drives/HVAC.
  • Facilitating and supporting portfolio specialist presentations within Consultant/Specifier groups, covering products like Elsteel Techno, Power Monitoring, Critical Power, Surge & Lightning Protection, Cybersecurity, Industrial communications, HVAC, EV Solutions, and Automation and control.
  • Securing written specifications for IPD offers, ensuring brand inclusion in key project specifications.
  • De-specifying competing offers and successfully gaining opportunity acceptance at least 3 times per quarter, shifting the preference toward IPD solutions.
  • Creating and maintaining a comprehensive presentation database for your state, collaborating with interstate Consultant & Specifier BD teams to ensure consistency and coverage across regions.
  • Regularly updating CRM with detailed reports on calls, presentations, and maintaining an accurate Consultant & Specifier company and contact database, ensuring all information is up to date and actionable.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • Qualifications in Electrical Trade or Engineering
  • Previous experience in Sales & Business Development
  • A strong understanding of the contract and tendering processes
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present IPD solutions to engineering based audiences
  • Willingness to travel as required;
  • Knowledge in MS Office and CRM software;
  • Proven communication and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent time management and planning skill
  • Must have the ability to travel to clients
