At IPD, we’re looking for a motivated and commercially minded Sales Development to join our Buildings & Infrastructure (B&I) team. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career in a market-facing role where you’ll build strong relationships, drive sales performance, and contribute to our continued business growth.

Supported by an experienced and collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in strengthening market share and delivering sustainable growth across your territory.

About the role:

Reporting to the Sales Manager NSW/ACT, you will be responsible for developing and growing IPD's Buildings & Infrastructure business throughout Canberra, Wollongong, Riverina and South Coast regions.

This is a territory-based sales role focused on building strong customer relationships, identifying project opportunities and driving sustainable growth across IPD's electrical product portfolio.

Working closely with switchboard manufacturers and electrical contractors, you'll help customers deliver projects while promoting IPD's broad range of low-voltage electrical products and solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing a territory growth plan aligned with state sales objectives.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with switchboard manufacturers and electrical contractors across the region.
  • Identifying and converting project opportunities across IPD's Buildings & Infrastructure portfolio.
  • Growing existing accounts while developing new business opportunities within the territory.
  • Conducting regular customer visits and maintaining a strong market presence.
  • Supporting quotations, pricing, project submissions and commercial negotiations.
  • Working collaboratively with product managers and technical specialists to provide effective customer solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate opportunity pipelines and customer records through CRM systems.
  • Providing market intelligence, competitor activity and customer feedback.
  • Achieving sales, margin and growth targets across the territory.
     

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

You are a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys building customer relationships and developing opportunities within the electrical industry.

You may currently be working in electrical distribution, switchboard manufacturing, low-voltage products, power distribution, electrical contracting, control and automation, or a related technical sales environment.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience in sales, account management or territory management.
  • Experience working with electrical contractors, switchboard manufacturers or other customers within the electrical industry.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and convert them into commercial outcomes.
  • Experience managing quotations, customer opportunities and sales pipelines.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, margins and profitable growth.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and territory management skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the designated territory.

Highly regarded:

  • Electrical trade qualification.
  • Electrical engineering qualification.
  • Experience with low-voltage electrical products, power distribution, switchboards, circuit protection or related technologies

Candidates without formal electrical qualifications are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate strong electrical industry experience and a proven track record in a relevant sales role.
