IPD is looking for a motivated Sales Development professional to lead the growth and execution of business strategies across key accounts in the Townsville, Mackay, and Cairns regions.

This is a full-time opportunity reporting directly to the Sales Manager, where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving business success. You’ll be at the forefront of building strong, lasting customer relationships while uncovering new opportunities to expand our market presence.

This role involves travel across Mackay, Cairns, Mt Isa, and the Tablelands, giving you the chance to truly own and develop your territory.

About the role:

In this position, you’ll take a proactive, strategic approach to territory growth—balancing relationship building, technical expertise, and commercial insight to deliver strong, measurable results.

  • Developing and executing targeted sales action plans aligned with state strategy to achieve individual and team sales, margin, and contribution targets.
  • Promoting IPD’s full suite of solutions to end users, EPCs, and contractors, while deepening your understanding of market dynamics and sales channels.
  • Maintaining strong technical and product knowledge, using CRM tools to effectively qualify, manage, and close opportunities.
  • Collaborating with local and national teams to optimise resources and actively contribute to sales and pipeline review meetings.
  • Representing IPD at industry events, building networks and gathering market insights, while ensuring all activities are conducted safely and professionally.
     

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

  • Minimum five years of business development experience in sales within the automation and electrical sector
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and driven to achieve sales outcomes.
  • A strong team player who collaborates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear written content and engaging presentations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying structured and effective sales processes.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies that generate and sustain a robust pipeline.
  • Experienced in applying consultative selling methodologies.
  • Strong capability in delivering value-based and solution-oriented sales.
