You will become part of a team that supports businesses across Australia with high-quality, fit-for-purpose hazardous area electrical solutions.
We're looking for a hands-on Workshop Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture and assembly of hazardous area electrical products in accordance with work order instructions, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Initially, the role will be based on our current Belmont premises with the team transitioning to a brand new, purpose-built facility in Canning Vale in April 2026.
Our experienced team will train and mentor you on our IECEx-certified manufacturing processes, so prior hazardous area experience is not required.
About the role:
As a Workshop Technician, you will focus on workshop manufacturing duties including the operation of waterjet cutting equipment, machine components, assemble enclosures and complete electrical wiring while meeting strict quality and safety standards.
Machining, assembling and wiring custom electrical enclosures (junction boxes, control stations and control panels)
Reading and interpreting work instructions, technical drawings and wiring schematics
Performing assembly tasks including drilling, tapping, machining, wiring and component installation
Operating workshop equipment including waterjet cutter, drill press, hydraulic punch, milling machine, grinder and hand tools
Preparing work areas and verifying parts against Bills of Materials before starting work
Completing work orders within allocated timeframes while maintaining EX Engineering quality standards
Conducting QA checks, recording work order details and completing required documentation
Following ISO 9001 quality processes and workshop procedures
Working safely in line with HSEQ policies, including PPE use and equipment pre-start checks
Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean, organised work environment
Desired Skills and Experience
About You:
Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field, or equivalent workshop experience (desirable)
Experience assembling electrical panels/enclosures, and waterjet, or CNC cutting (desirable)
Hands-on experience with tools and workshop machinery (workplace or serious hobbyist)
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings with an understanding of relevant standards (AS3000, AS/NZS 61439)
Strong attention to detail, pride in quality work, and commitment to workplace safety
Reliable, self-motivated, strong work ethic, and effective team player with good communication skills
Valid WA Driver’s Licence and ability to pass pre-employment medical and police clearance
